宝剑锋从磨砺出,梅花香自苦寒来。2020年11月4日,长江商学院企业家学者项目三期班同学、北京天润同泰置业有限公司董事长姜燕红顺利通过论文答辩。姜燕红同学在答辩现场阐述了《网络媒体报道与民营上市企业社会责任:来自中国创业板的证据》,现场接受了导师委员会的现场论文答辩,最终顺利通过。恭喜姜燕红同学!

姜燕红 | 网络媒体报道与民营上市企业社会责任:来自中国创业板的证据

 论文摘要:

 

本文探索民营上市企业如何在战略方面对网络媒体报道做出反应。作者将社会责任理论和媒体报道文献相结合,提出正面和负面网络媒体报道均能够通过短期舆论压力和长期声誉压力促进企业承担社会责任的假设。为了探索网络媒体报道影响企业社会责任的边界,本文分别从认知偏差理论和制度理论出发,提出决策者认知偏差如董事长年龄及从政经历会调节网络媒体报道对企业社会责任的促进作用,制度环境如企业年龄、企业距离行政中心的距离以及行业特征会调节网络媒体报道对企业社会责任的促进作用。最后,本文从资源和声誉视角出发,提出民营企业承担社会责任有助于提升企业绩效。

 

使用2010-2016年间中国创业板上市公司年报、中国经济金融研究数据库(China Stock Market Accounting Research,CSMAR)和中国上市公司财经新闻数据库(Financial News Database of Chinese Listed Companies, CFND),本文对以上假设进行了检验,发现中国民营上市企业会采取社会责任战略应对网络媒体报道,决策者认知偏差和外部制度环境对此产生调节作用,民营企业承担社会责任有助于提升企业绩效。本研究对媒体报道相关的文献和企业社会责任理论作出补充,对中国上市企业的战略决策提供参考,对于政府制定媒体管理相关的制度提供借鉴。

 ABSTRACT:

 

This thesis explores how Chinese private listed enterprises respond to online media coverage strategically. Social responsibility theory is combined by the author with media coverage literature to put forward the hypothesis that both positive and negative online media coverage can promote corporate social responsibility through short-term public opinion pressure and long-term reputation pressure. In order to explore the boundaries of the influence of online media coverage on corporate social responsibility, this thesis starts from cognitive bias theory and institution theory to propose that cognitive biases of decision makers, such as the age and political experience of the chairperson, will adjust the role of online media coverage in promoting corporate social responsibility; the institutional environment, such as the age of enterprise, the distance between the enterprise and the administrative center and the characteristics of the industry, will adjust the role of online media coverage in promoting corporate social responsibility. Finally, from the perspective of resources and reputation, this thesis puts forward that the socially responsible private enterprises can help improve corporate performance.

Using the annual reports of Chinese GEM listed companies in 2010-2016, China Stock Market Accounting Research Database (CSMAR) and Financial News Database of Chinese Listed Companies (CFND), this thesis verifies the above assumptions and finds that Chinese private listed enterprises will adopt social responsibility strategies to respond online media coverage, that the cognitive biases of decision makers and the external institutional environment play an adjustment role, and that socially responsible private enterprises can help improve corporate performance. This research supplements the literature related to media coverage and corporate social responsibility theories, gives reference in the strategic decisions of Chinese listed enterprises, and guides the government to formulate media management-related systems.
